Northern Virginia Brand Photographer: What it’s like to work together
From start to finish, this experience is tailored to your needs. However, this is generally what you can expect when you work with me.
First things first…
Let’s connect! During a brief phone or video call, we can discuss what you and your brand need. Based on our conversation, I’ll make a personalized recommendation, whether it’s a headshot session or a full-on branding session.
From there, you’ll receive a proposal tailored to your needs. Once the contract is signed and your retainer is paid, we can get started with the fun stuff!
Discovery and preparation
Shortly after your session is officially booked, you’ll receive an email with a welcome guide, a styling guide, and a pre-session questionnaire. This questionnaire will be your opportunity to dive deep and share important details about your brand voice and goals. Take your time, because this will serve as the guiding light for my research and planning as I prepare for your branding session. The more detail you can provide, the better.
When your questionnaire is complete and submitted, you can share a curated Pinterest board to guide the concepts for your shoot. This board should capture the overall aesthetic and feel of your brand, but it shouldn’t exceed 30 pins. I encourage you to step outside typical poses and outfits and draw inspiration from a variety of sources and media. Think: textures, locations, colors, moments, emotions, fashion, art, and more.
Curating the vision
Based on the goals we established, the background you shared in your questionnaire, and the vision from your mood boards, I will curate a creative brief for your session. It will include your chosen locations and a timeline, and will encompass three to four concepts, depending on the scope of your session.
Each concept will outline an overall vibe and a specific goal. It will include the props and poses needed to achieve the concept, a shot list, and composition notes. Your brief will also include a polished mood board featuring your brand colors and a complete prop list for you to bring to the shoot.
Finalizing the vision
About 2 to 3 weeks before your session, we’ll schedule a call to finalize your brand imagery vision and details. After reviewing your brief and timeline, we’ll ensure everything is aligned for your photoshoot so the day goes as smoothly as possible. This is also when we can account for any additional vendors, such as hair and makeup artists, wardrobe stylists, team members, or timing for the host venue.
Your branding photoshoot: It’s here!
On the day of your photoshoot, I’ll arrive at the agreed-upon location about 45 minutes to an hour before your session begins. With this extra time, I’ll walk the space to assess the best lighting and locations for shooting. Then, I’ll set up my gear while you’re making the final touches on your look.
When we start your session, above all, I want you to feel relaxed and to have the space to be your authentic self. I’ll guide you through natural, true-to-life poses while keeping an eye out for the in-between moments that hint at your truest self and your brand.
Receiving your brand photos
About one week after your session, I’ll send an exciting preview of the results. I know you’re as excited as I am to put them to good use, so please, post away!
Three weeks later, you’ll receive your final gallery! Your images will be hosted on Instaproof, where you can download high-resolution and web-sized versions. Your gallery will be hosted online for a full year. However, I recommend downloading the high-resolution gallery in its entirety as soon as you receive it to ensure it’s kept safe and sound!
